"The Black Scarf Battalion"

Originally published in the "American Traveler" the newspaper of the 1^st Infantry Division in Vietnam on March 25, 1967.  The author is Staff Sergeant Richard Graley, Weapons Platoon Leader of Company C, 1^st Battalion, 2d Infantry Regiment, 1^st Brigade, 1^st Infantry Division, Phouc Vinh, RVN.  During 1966 & 1967 SSG Graley fought many battles with his Black Scarves and knows well of what he speaks.  On many occasions I was personally thankful, as were many others, for the close and accurate support his mortars provided.
