Gentlemen,
We regret to inform you that the Regimental
Reunion scheduled for the 15th through the 18th of May, at
Pigeon Forge Tennessee has had to be canceled. The loss of Don Rochat, who as
you all know was one of the driving forces behind this event, made it impossible
to continue despite the efforts of Juan Santiago.
Following are an announcement from Gary
Tucker of the Second Infantry Regiment Association, and a letter from Bob Fulps
of the 2nd 2nd Infantry Association.
17 Mar, 2008
Fellow Warriors,
Due to the sudden and untimely passing of one of our dear friends, Don Rochat,
the reunion at Pigeon Forge will not take place. Don loved getting together with
all of us and he put on a wonderful reunion at a beautiful site. Juan Santiago
has been spearheading the effort to keep the reunion alive this year, but ran
into some obstacles created with Don's passing.
For those of you who have already sent money for the reunion it will be fully
refunded. Please be patient with the process, because of the circumstances.
Should anyone have questions, please feel free to contact me at 703.266.2170,
and I will try to get the right answer for you.
There are already some tentative plans for a reunion later this year, not the
Society one in Colorado. At this point, however, nothing is locked in concrete
but efforts are continuing to make it happen.
I am sorry about having to break this news to you, but I hope all of you will
understand. In the meantime, in true Second Infantry Regiment fashion, let's
move out and draw fire.
Noli Me Tangere
Gary
